Onjuku Town Symbol Character “Ebi Amigo”
Ebi Amigo is a character that embodies elements of Onjuku Town’s local specialty, the Ise lobster, the surfing that can be experienced at the beach which inspired the nursery rhyme “Tsuki no Sabaku” (Desert of the Moon), and the historically deep connection with Mexico, due to the fact that in 1609, a ship from the region around Mexico (then a Spanish territory) drifted ashore in Onjuku Town and was rescued by the villagers.
