Jiji Press Glocal Services Inc. (President and CEO: Ichiro Sugimoto), a wholly owned subsidiary of Jiji Press Ltd. (Headquarters: Ginza, Chuo Ward), is pleased to announce that it has signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement in the field of tourism with two cities and two towns in Chiba Prefecture: Katsuura City (Mayor: Yumiko Terukawa), Isumi City (Mayor: Hiroshi Ota), Otaki Town (Mayor: Noboru Hirabayashi), and Onjuku Town (Mayor: Yoshihiro Ishida).
Jiji Press Glocal Services Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “JPGS”) and the two cities((Katsuura City, Isumi City) and two towns(Otaki Town, and Onjuku Town) in the Isumi region, located in the Sotobo area of Chiba Prefecture, have signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the aim of “revitalizing the region through tourism and solving various regional issues.”
Going forward, JPGS and the two cities and two towns will cooperate with Chiba Prefecture to utilize local tourism resources, aiming to create and generate tourism demand, and to promote the development of a sustainable region through the increase of both domestic and international tourists and the promotion of consumption. Additionally, efforts will be made to address safety measures in the event of disasters and emergencies.
Furthermore, we will actively promote strategies that incorporate private sector solutions to address common issues in Katsuura City, Isumi City, Otaki Town, and Onjuku Town, such as population decline, vacant housing problems, regional transportation, and access transportation improvements.
